Hello everyone.

Today I'd similar to share with you all my workflow for (re)creating logos in Forza games. This is a method that a few veteran players may already know of but for those that don't here'southward a short guide.

Likewise, if you're curious to see some results of this method, y'all can notice my designs here:

Forza Horizon iii Liveries | Forza Motorsport half-dozen Liveries

----------

What y'all'll need:

  • A Windows 10 PC and the Xbox app.
  • An application called Glass2K.
  • An Xbox One and your Forza game of option.*

* If you're playing Forza Horizon 3 on Windows 10 this guide may change. I play on Xbox One so I'll be writing from that perspective.

----------

What is Glass2K and why do I need it?

  • Glass2K is a small-scale application that allows you lot to change the transparency of your windows on any Windows PC.
  • We will be using this to create an overlapping screen so that we tin work directly on top of a reference image.

----------

Footstep ane: Set your reference prototype.

  • Cull a logo to replicate. For this guide I am using a retro Tic-Tac logo that I had already saved for another projection.
  • There are many places to find images of logos that yous want to replicate. Google is the obvious choice but you lot can also look upwards logo repositories similar Brands of the World.
  • You lot will want an image that is reasonably high resolution, ideally effectually 700px tall at the very least. This will let your Forza version to exist more authentic when information technology comes to the smaller details.
  • Once you take your image gear up, save it to the Desktop and open information technology.

----------

Step two: Fix your in-game editor.

  • On your Forza game, go to where you create a new Vinyl Grouping. In Forza Horizon 3 the menu path is [Autoshow] >[Garage] > [Designs and Paints] > [Create Vinyl Grouping].
  • Press {RS} until you take a night background with no gridlines.
  • On your PC, start up Glass2K if you haven't already.
  • On your PC go to your Xbox app and {Right Click} anywhere on the screen.
  • Yous should now see a box with a list of percentages. Choose somewhere betwixt 50% and 80%, this volition make your Xbox app window transparent, allowing y'all to see the logo from [Step 1] behind it (Meet first image below).
  • Still on the Xbox app, select [Game Streaming] and stream your Xbox I to your PC. Be certain to select the highest quality setting if you haven't already.
  • If your screen now looks like the second image below, you're gear up to brand your logo.

----------

Step 3: Create your logo in-game.

  • There are no shortcuts for this, you'll need to utilize the various in-game Vinyl Shapes to make your logo. Every Forza painter has a different set of core shapes that they employ to make everything, and you'll observe your preferences the more you piece of work with the tool.
  • During this step you should only use whites, blacks and grays for the various elements of the logo. We're focusing on shapes right at present and not colour.
  • Using your reference image, try and get your ingame version as close to the real logo equally possible. This will have varying amounts of time depending on the complication of the logo and the experience of the painter. For reference, I've been a Forza painter for about half dozen years, and a logo like this would take me virtually an hr to complete.
  • Once yous've gotten the logo to a level of accuracy yous're happy with, you tin can cease streaming from your PC and send your screen back to your Xbox One.

----------

Footstep iv: Apply authentic colours.

  • Go to this website.
  • Upload your reference epitome from [Stride one].
  • Use the Eyedropper tool to pull various colour values from the image.
  • Back in Forza, select a group of layers that you wish to colour.
  • Open the colour picker and press {X} to open [Colour Fine Tune].
  • Input the values y'all obtained from the website.
  • Repeat the procedure for every color in your logo.

----------

And in that location you have it, a simple method to guarantee you lot have the most accurate in-game versions of real-life logos possible.

Great guide, simply there'due south always one thing I get hung upward on for Forza designs: which shapes are best to utilise for curved designs that tin't be done with the circle or arch shapes? For example the letter S in a logo, if I don't just want to use the Forza letters what should I practise?

Great guide, only there'southward always one thing I get hung up on for Forza designs: which shapes are best to use for curved designs that tin't be done with the circle or arch shapes? For example the alphabetic character S in a logo, if I don't but want to employ the Forza letters what should I practise?

Due south messages are just a hurting in general, as there is no one size fits all pick. You may end upward using completely different layer types depending on the exact curvature of the letter in a given logo.

Hither are the shapes I use for pretty much everything:

  • Row 1, Column ane
  • Row 2, Column 1
  • Row iii, Column 7: This i'due south good for almost whatsoever curved border.
  • Row iv, Column 9: This 1 is best used to outline a edge or to seamlessly merge 2 curved edges yous've already outlined.

  • 01: Inner edge is best used for rounded inner corners.
  • 34: Useful for all sorts of curved edges.

Everything else is largely situational.

So how does this work for Windows 10 players?

  • #6

So how does this work for Windows x players?

I don't play games on PC/Windows so I can't tell you lot, simply if you can make your game window transparent and then the process is the same; you just skip the whole Xbox Game Streaming part and become directly to logo creation.

Excellent work! Still I'd exist also impatient to practise something like this.

If you detect a prissy enough logo, y'all can do the same thing with tracing decals you purchased from the storefront (you just have to trace them on the car though).

You lot can oft figure out ways to save a agglomeration of layers past doing this too. I've taken overnice logos from friends and cut the layer counts nearly in half past tracing, and you cant tell a deviation between the two.

This guide has my full blessing. 👍

(Ghost-It has proved to be a bit less of a resource pig on my system, and should take a couple more than options to arrange the opacity of the transparent window. I also tend to make the image I intend to copy, rather than the Xbox steaming windows, transparent. YMMV on which option is better, tho...)

Working on the Furai letters. It's not going to be 100% authentic, merely zero's perfect (except if you're @PJTierney ;))

This is the reference epitome I'grand going by:
